As part of our on-going work with Gloucester Rugby's Community Department we worked on naming and creating an identity and supporting material for a scheme being piloted by the Club. The scheme was developed to encourage young people aged 16-20 currently in neither education nor employment to undertake a programme combining elements of basic health, social, sporting and business tasks. After research into the intended audience, the environment in which the programme would be carried out, and the content of the course we decided on the name 'Onside'. As well as saying in very clear terms that the scheme was developed to get the kids 'onside' it is also a well used rugby term meaning being in a 'fair' position, usually behind the ball, players who are 'onside' take an active part in playing the game.
The identity was then used on course folders for both tutors and students, and also on clothing.
